The series begins with a nameless novice Adventurer Monk leaving his clan village carrying almost nothing, just the clothes on his back, a wooden sword he carved himself, and a sharpened piece of flint. He does not even have a settled name yet. What he does have is a job description: kill monsters, protect the innocent, and rescue people in trouble.
