Privacy Policy

Account Information:

When you create an account through our mobile app, we collect:

• •Email address (provided directly or via Google or Apple Sign-In)
• •Authentication identifiers from third-party sign-in providers (Google, Apple)

We do not collect your name, phone number, or physical address. Account creation is optional—you can browse all content without signing in. An account is only needed to save books to your shelves, track reading progress, save notes, or use AI capture.

User-Generated Data:

If you create an account, we store the following data associated with your account:

• •Your wishlist (books you want to read)
• •Your current and finished books, page progress, reading sessions, goals, reminders, and notes you choose to save

This data is stored securely on our servers and is only accessible to you when signed into your account.

Optional AI Reading Capture:

After you consent and choose to send an update, we process your typed text, short voice recording, or selected book photo through OpenAI to transcribe speech, identify books, and interpret the reading changes you request. Relevant book and shelf metadata is included to identify the right book. Existing private notes are not sent for this purpose. Voice and photo results require your review before saving; clear typed updates may save immediately with Undo. Manual search and reading controls remain available.

Camera, microphone, and photo access are used only when you choose those features. MRB does not keep a library of submitted recordings or photos. Temporary recordings are removed after capture. The reading changes and notes you choose to save remain in your account. OpenAI may retain processing data under its applicable API data policies; we do not promise zero retention by providers.

Mobile Analytics (PostHog):

PostHog helps us understand feature use, successful saves, errors, and whether readers return. The app sends account identifiers, email where available, device and app information, approximate location inferred from network information, and usage events such as book interactions and reading updates. AI capture text, transcripts, private note contents, recordings, and photos are not included in the new reading-capture analytics events. Session replay is disabled in version 1.6.0.

Analytics Data (via Aizen Analytics and Google Analytics):

We use Aizen Analytics and Google Analytics 4 on our website to understand how visitors find and use the site. These services may collect:

• •Anonymous usage statistics (page views, visit duration)
• •General location information (country/region level)
• •Device and browser information
• •Referral sources
• •Pseudonymous cookie identifiers used to distinguish users and sessions

This data is used for aggregated reporting and is not intended to identify you directly. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies as described in our Cookie Policy.

Contact Form Submissions:

If you choose to contact us via our form, we process the subject, your email address, and your message. We use this information only to reply to you.

Local Storage:

On our website, we use browser local storage to remember your theme preference (light/dark mode). On our mobile app, we use device secure storage to store your authentication token so you stay signed in. This data is stored only on your device.

Server Logs:

Like most websites, our servers and content delivery network (CloudFront) may automatically log:

• •Pages accessed
• •HTTP status codes

These logs are used for security and performance monitoring and are automatically deleted after a short period.

Analytics Providers:

Aizen Analytics and Google process website-usage data on our behalf. Google's handling of Analytics data is described in its Privacy Policy.

Reading Capture and Mobile Analytics Providers:

OpenAI processes optional reading-capture input on our behalf. PostHog processes mobile usage events to help us improve the app. These services are separate from the website analytics described above. See OpenAI's privacy policy and PostHog's privacy policy for their data practices.

Authentication Providers:

We offer sign-in through Google and Apple. When you choose to sign in with one of these providers, they share your email address (and an authentication identifier) with us. We do not receive your password from these providers. Their use of your data is governed by their own privacy policies:

Data Hosting:

Account data (email, book shelves, reading progress, goals, notes, and recent action history) is stored on Supabase, a cloud database platform. Supabase processes data on our behalf and is contractually obligated to protect your information. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.

Amazon Associates Program:

As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. When you click on Amazon links and make purchases, Amazon may track this activity according to their privacy policy.

Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)

The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.
