Quantum Rabbit Hole is Foxworthy and Jack Coltrane playing with portal fantasy through a science fiction frame. The hero of An Accidental Wizard in Blackmoth does not step through a noble gate or cast a spell. He falls through a rabbit hole, literally a quantum one, and lands in a world where everyone expects him to have a tail.

That is the joke, and also the problem.

Blackmoth is not presented as a welcoming fantasy realm. Carl arrives after a battle, confused, tailless, and immediately suspicious to the locals who find him. For a while he is treated less like a hero and more like an involuntary guest who might need locking up until someone can explain what exactly he is. That outsider status gives the story its shape. Carl has to learn the social rules before he can even begin to understand the magical ones.

The series title hints that the travel mechanism matters as much as the destination. This is not standard epic fantasy. It is alternate-world adventure filtered through modern bewilderment, with the comedy of cultural mismatch always close at hand.

If you like portal stories where the protagonist has to survive on patience, observation, and basic decency before becoming anything impressive, this is a fun setup. The accidental part of the title is important. Carl is not ready, and that is exactly why the book works.
