Series background & context

The Knights of Black Swan series begins when Elora Laiken survives an assassination attempt by entering an experimental device and wakes in another dimension. She has lost her old life in minutes. Her unexpected rescuers are members of the Order of the Black Swan, a long-running organization of vampire-hunting knights.

Elora lands in a world where vampires, witches, elves, werewolves, demons, fae, and humans live beside one another, often uneasily. The Order gives her protection, medical care, and a place to belong, but it also draws her into the dangers that keep its knights busy. Her new abilities, and the question of why she was targeted, make her more than a bystander.

The Order is not a tidy group of identical heroes. Its teams include hunters, trackers, psychics, healers, warriors, and the occasional troublemaker. Edinburgh and the Order’s other bases become meeting points for missions involving missing people, old grudges, dangerous artifacts, supernatural politics, and threats crossing between worlds.

Romance matters here, but so does the group.

The books shift attention among Elora and a growing cast, including vampire hunters, witches, werewolf leaders, elves, demons, and later generations of Black Swan recruits. Each installment has a central couple or mission, while the wider story keeps moving through alliances, family ties, and conflicts that do not end neatly after one book.

The tone is paranormal romance with adventure, humor, emotional reunions, and plenty of action. These are best read in order because characters and events return often. Several linked series, including Exiled, New Scotia Pack, Prince of Demons, and Order of the Black Swan, D.I.T., expand the same larger universe.

Start with My Familiar Stranger. It sets up Elora’s arrival, the Order, and the relationships that make the rest of the series matter.
