Series background & context
Order of the Black Swan, D.I.T. returns to Danann’s Black Swan universe through a new department with a very specific job. D.I.T. stands for Department of Interdimensional Trespass, a unit formed to handle people and creatures moving illegally through the passages between dimensions.
The original Black Swan knights protect their world from vampires and other supernatural dangers. D.I.T. adds another problem: not every visitor from another dimension arrives with good intentions, and not every supposed trespasser is as simple to judge as the rules suggest. The work calls for investigation, tracking, diplomacy, and the ability to stay calm when folklore becomes real.
Rosie Storm is central to the new unit. She is an exceptional tracker with strong ties to the earlier Black Swan books, and the series lets familiar characters return while introducing new recruits and old allies who have been left out in the cold.
The first story, Simon Says / Trespass, begins with Black Swan director Simon Tvelgar and a mystery that has haunted him for years. A fae woman he loved disappeared through the standing stones on Orkney, and Simon believes Rosie may finally be able to find her. That search opens the door to the D.I.T. team’s wider work.
Later books bring the action to Ireland and beyond, where interdimensional travel, old legends, magical kidnappings, and complicated loyalties create trouble. The series keeps a paranormal-romance focus, but it also works like a supernatural police procedural, with a team learning what its mission really means.
Nothing is straightforward here.
Readers will get the most from these books after spending time with the Knights of Black Swan series, since the people, history, and world rules matter. Still, Simon Says / Trespass offers the clearest entry point for this branch of the saga.
