Series background & context

Merry Scroog-mas! is Kari Lee Harmon's holiday-romance series, written by Kari Lee Townsend under her romance name. The stories follow friends in and around the advertising world as Christmas brings old heartbreaks, professional pressure, snowed-in situations, and men with a little too much Scrooge in them.

It is built for holiday reading.

The first book, Naughty or Nice, introduces Boston advertising executive Samantha Darling. A betrayal by her fiancé has ruined her favorite holiday, and one peppermint-heavy night leads her to alter the wrong Christmas window display in Redemption, Massachusetts. The shop belongs to antiques dealer Nathan Snow, who dislikes Christmas but needs that display to win a local contest. Samantha has to help him fix it, and their punishment starts to look a lot like a second chance.

The series continues with Samantha's friends. In Sleigh Bells Ring, Amber Evans is maid of honor for Samantha's Christmas Eve wedding, while former basketball star Kip Covington is the best man. They have spent a year competing and irritating one another. A blizzard strands the wedding party at Kip's Vermont resort, leaving them little choice but to work together.

Jingle all the Way completes the group with another holiday romance that returns to the series' mix of friendship, Christmas chaos, and guarded people who need to reconsider what they want.

The books are short contemporary romances with a warm, comic tone. They share supporting characters and a holiday setting, but each one gives a different couple the main spotlight. Expect seasonal events, forced proximity, rivalry that turns flirtatious, and friends who do not let one another disappear after a bad breakup.

There is plenty of snow, but the real pressure comes from Christmas expectations.

Start with Naughty or Nice. It introduces Samantha, Nathan, and the friendship circle, then Sleigh Bells Ring and Jingle all the Way keep the Christmas-season story moving.
