Series background & context

Digital Diva is Kari Lee Townsend's teen action-adventure series about Samantha Granger, a girl whose connection to technology becomes startlingly literal. The books are tied to the Samantha Granger Experiment stories, but they focus on Sam's growing identity as a young hero with abilities no ordinary phone user should have.

Sam is not looking to become a superhero.

After a strange accident, she finds that her body can perform the functions of her cell phone. She can access information, communicate, use GPS, and record what she sees in ways that would be handy if they were not also so hard to explain. The abilities make her different, and being different is not easy when she is still navigating school, friendship, family, and a crush.

Talk To The Hand puts Sam's new powers at the center of the story. She needs to keep her situation secret while figuring out how to use her abilities responsibly. The technology is fun, but it comes with consequences. If people discover what Sam can do, they may not all want to protect her.

In Rise of the Phenoteens, Sam has begun to understand that she is not alone. The story expands her world beyond a single accident and into a larger conflict involving other young people with unusual powers. That shift gives the series a team-adventure feel, while Sam remains the emotional center.

The tone is brisk and accessible, with gadget-driven action, secret identities, danger, and the everyday embarrassment of being a teenager. Sam's powers can be impressive, but the books keep returning to the question of how much she is willing to risk to help others.

Technology is both her greatest advantage and the thing that puts her in danger.

Start with Talk To The Hand. It introduces Sam's transformation and the rules of her digital abilities, then Rise of the Phenoteens broadens the adventure for readers who want more teen heroes and bigger stakes.
