Discovery Bay Books in Order

Discovery Bay is one of Carol Ericson's strongest small-town suspense setups. The books unfold around Dead Falls Island and its surrounding coastal community, where everybody knows everybody, old accusations never quite die, and one murder tends to shake loose two more secrets.

This is the kind of setting Ericson uses well. The town is beautiful, but it is also enclosed. People remember what happened years ago. They remember who left, who came back, who was blamed, and who never got real answers. That gives each book a built-in emotional charge before the actual crime plot even gets moving.

The romances are tied closely to that history. Former loves reunite. Outsiders come back home. Protectiveness and resentment show up together. The cases involve false convictions, missing boys, murder witnesses, land fights, and long-buried truths that start to matter again.

So the series reads like a mix of romantic suspense and local whodunit. You get danger and attraction, but you also get a lot of community tension and personal history.

If you like isolated coastal settings and cases that force characters to reckon with the place they came from, Discovery Bay is easy to recommend.
