Deal of Shadows Books in Order

Deal of Shadows is set in the same broader world as Maze of Shadows, but it works well as its own entry point. The hook is more intimate at first: a desperate woman tries a midnight ritual, and instead of getting a harmless result she accidentally summons a terrifyingly seductive Unseelie fae who wants her soul.

That woman is Alex. The fae is Izael, the Duke of Bones.

Izael offers her a bargain that sounds simple in the way only truly awful bargains do. Alex gets seven days of the human world, seven nights of his, and at the end she must make her deepest wish. The price is everything. Once the wish is spoken, her soul belongs to him forever. That ticking structure gives the first book a very clean momentum, because attraction, fear, and curiosity all have an actual deadline attached.

What makes the series more than a dark seduction setup is the way Alex's role expands. She is not only being tempted by a dangerous fae. She is also discovering powers of her own, and those powers may matter far beyond her private disaster. The relationship with Izael stays central, but the books widen into threats that reach across worlds.

Izael is a different flavor from Valroy or Simon, but he belongs to the same family of Kingsley villains. He is manipulative, hungry, funny in the wrong way, and impossible to call safe. The story knows that.

This is dark fae romance with a strong bargain plot and a slightly more compact shape than some of Kingsley's longer fantasy series. Start with The Unseelie Duke, then move to The Unseelie Wish. If you like deals, soul stakes, and romance that starts with the absolute worst idea available, this one will probably work for you.
