When she learns that Raziel Nostrom, prince of a powerful vampire clan, is about to marry a woman he has never met, she sees her chance and steps into the role of his bride herself.

So the romance begins inside an assassination attempt.

Raziel is tied to a vicious, beautiful, highly dangerous family, and the series gets a lot of mileage from putting the heroine inside that household under false pretenses. She is there to deceive, infiltrate, and eventually kill. The trouble, obviously, is that Raziel is far more magnetic in person than revenge was supposed to allow.

That mix of intimacy and threat gives the series its shape. Every tender moment is contaminated by hidden motives. Every move deeper into the Nostrom family makes escape harder. The heroine is not simply choosing between love and hate. She is choosing between the story she has built her life around and the possibility that the monster at the center of it is not the only monster in the room.

The tone is dark, but sleek rather than sprawling. There is a mafia-family feel to the vampire court, with power, loyalty, succession, and blood ties all carrying real weight. The books are romantic, but they stay interested in vengeance, identity, and what happens when desire wrecks a very practical plan.

This is a good pick if you like infiltration stories, vampire dynasties, and heroines who walk into danger on purpose. Start with The Serpent's Bride. The later books continue building the Raziel arc and the wider clan conflict, so reading in order matters here.
