The Ghost Reapers Books in Order

The Ghost Reapers takes Shane Ryan far from home and drops him into a war-torn country where the dead are part of the battlefield. The series begins when the death of an old Marine comrade pulls Shane toward Vakovia, a violent Central European setting full of ruins, shifting loyalties, and supernatural weaponry.

War is bad enough. Then the ghosts arrive.

What makes this series stand out is Reaper Company, a mercenary unit working with Spectral Assets, ghostly partners who fight alongside the living. That is a fun and dangerous twist on Ripley's usual framework. Shane is used to hunting spirits, not negotiating a battlefield where some of them are being used like soldiers.

The books keep the pace high. Shane gets framed, hunted, and forced into unlikely alliances while he tries to uncover who is really pulling the strings. The action side is stronger here than in many of the older Shane stories, but the horror never disappears. Haunted cemeteries, underground labyrinths, and dead fighters with unfinished business all help keep the atmosphere sharp.

This is also one of the better examples of how flexible the Shane Ryan universe can be. The same character who works so well in New England haunted houses also fits a grim war-zone thriller with supernatural espionage built into it.

If you want Ripley in a more military, international mode without losing the ghosts, The Ghost Reapers is an easy recommendation.
