The Haunted Collection books follow Victor Daniels, a mild-mannered historian whose life is destroyed when his wife is killed by a haunted object. That loss is the engine behind the whole series. Victor is not out looking for adventure. He is grieving, angry, and trying to understand how one cursed item could rip his world apart.

Victor teams up with allies like Tom Crane, and later brushes against bigger names in Ripley's universe, as he tracks the trail back to Stefan Korzh, a man whose family collection of haunted artifacts has become a kind of traveling plague. Each book usually centers on a different object, such as a rifle, a mirror, a radio, or a knife, and each object comes with its own ghostly history and rules.

That structure is a big part of the fun. The series reads like a chain of linked cases, but there is always a larger story running underneath. Victor is not just solving one haunting after another. He is following a system of cruelty, obsession, and inheritance that keeps spilling into innocent lives.

It is also one of Ripley's better series for readers who enjoy cursed relics. The objects matter. Their histories matter. And the way people misuse them matters even more.

If you like horror that mixes investigation, folklore, and a widening sense of dread, Haunted Collection is a strong fit. Victor is not a swaggering action hero, which makes his persistence all the more satisfying. He keeps going because he has to, and the books are stronger for that.
