Supernatural Horror Books in Order

The Supernatural Horror books are standalones, but they share the same dark universe. That makes them a good entry point if you want Mountford's occult side without committing to one long ongoing storyline.

The Demonic sets the tone. Danni Morgan returns to her childhood home after her abusive father's death, expecting grief, anger, and old memories. What she gets instead is a house where the past is not finished and the evil inside it is very real. It is a haunted house novel, but it is also a story about trauma, memory, and the fear of being dragged back into something you thought you had escaped.

The Mark shifts to cult horror. Kirsty Thompson survives a brutal attack and wakes up with an ancient symbol carved into her back. From there the book becomes a chase through occult clues, demonic visions, and a bond with something monstrous that she does not understand. It is more urban and more frantic than The Demonic, but it keeps the same sense that ordinary life can be split open by old evil.

Then Forest of the Damned heads into the Black Forest with four paranormal researchers who want proof that the supernatural is real. They get it. Mountford uses the group setup well here, turning curiosity into dread as the forest starts answering back and the legend of Mother Sibbett becomes impossible to dismiss.

Same universe, different nightmares.

What ties these books together is their interest in demons, old legends, cults, and people who realize too late that the rules of the world are not what they thought. None of the novels depends on the same main cast, so you can read them in any order, though publication order works nicely because you can feel Mountford building the universe as he goes.

These books also show how much he likes strong setup. A return home. A mysterious scar. A research trip into a haunted forest. The hooks are simple and sharp, and once they are in place he pushes hard on atmosphere. If you want occult horror with quick pacing, bad places, and supernatural threats that feel genuinely dangerous, this is the series to pick.
