Series background & context

The Spencer Cohen series starts with an unusual business arrangement. Spencer Cohen is hired to play a client’s new boyfriend, helping people get an answer from an ex who has left them confused or hurt. For Spencer, it is work, not romance.

Andrew Landon does not want to hire anyone. His sister does it for him after Andrew’s ex disappears without explanation, and Spencer arrives in Andrew’s life wearing tattoos, a beard, and a rule against emotional complications.

That rule does not last long.

The first three books follow Spencer and Andrew as a fake relationship becomes real, then grows into a partnership tested by family, past hurt, and Spencer’s sometimes risky client work. The series has plenty of banter and warmth, but it also allows both men to be uncertain about what they deserve.

Yanni’s Story shifts the focus to Yanni Tomaras, a younger character introduced in the earlier books. After escaping an abusive relationship, Yanni begins rebuilding his life and develops a connection with Peter Hannikov. It belongs to the same circle of friends but carries heavier themes of healing and recovery.

Start with Spencer Cohen, Book One. The core romance is a continuous story, and Yanni’s book has more impact after his earlier appearances.
