Series background & context

The Weight of It All is a warm contemporary romance about body image, confidence, food, friendship, and choosing change for yourself rather than for someone else. It begins after Henry Beckett is dumped by his long-term boyfriend for being overweight.

Hurt and determined to win his ex back, Henry joins a gym. This is not a natural fit for him. His personal trainer, Reed Henske, is patient but carries his own disappointment with dating and with people who only see appearances.

Henry brings the snacks and the jokes.

As Reed helps Henry build new habits, Henry’s warmth, cooking, and sense of humor begin to break through Reed’s defenses. Their friendship grows into something neither man expected, while Henry has to confront the belief that he must earn love by changing his body.

The central novel balances humor with honest insecurity. It is not about a makeover fixing someone’s life. It is about Henry learning that he deserves care and happiness now, and Reed learning to trust a relationship that is more than surface-deep.

A Very Henry Christmas is a short follow-up set during Henry and Reed’s first Christmas Eve as an engaged couple. Start with The Weight of It All, then save the holiday story for a sweet return visit.
