Ravenous Spirits Books in Order

Ravenous Spirits drops Shane Ryan and Frank Benedict onto Maple Grove Island, and the isolation does a lot of work. They arrive to investigate a disappearance and quickly realize the island is running on rules outsiders were never meant to understand. The locals are closed off, the forest is wrong, and the main supernatural force is not a standard ghost at all.

It is worse than that.

At the center of the series is a skinless, patchwork wraith worshipped by the villagers for protection and harvests. That gives the books a strong folk-horror feel. The threat is not just one monster roaming the woods. It is a whole community shaped around fear, dependence, and old blood bargains.

Shane and Frank make a good duo for this sort of story. Shane brings his usual violence and experience, while Frank helps ground the more ritualistic side of the mystery. As they dig deeper, the missing-person case opens into buried history, island power structures, and an older evil stalking the edges of the village.

The setting matters a lot here. Fog, forest, shoreline, and isolation give the series a closed-in feel even though it takes place outdoors. There are not many easy exits, and the villagers themselves are often as dangerous as the spirit they serve.

If you want Ripley doing eerie island horror with cultish undertones and a truly nasty central creature, Ravenous Spirits is a very good match.
