R. Caine High School Books in Order

R. Caine High School is a young adult fantasy series built around a very unfair game. The old powers discover that the Earth gods have been treating humankind as their entertainment for centuries, so they put a stop to it. The rebellious gods respond by choosing their own children as players.

The playing field is high school.

To make the contest more interesting, the young players have their memories removed. They believe they are ordinary teenagers until they are transferred to R. Caine High School and strange things start happening. Gifts emerge, old identities stir, and the rules remain hidden.

The first book, The Game Begins, follows sixteen-year-old Ever, who does not know she is an immortal Valkyrie. Around her are a wolf connected to a goddess, a mischievous god in the form of an odd student, and other teens with far more complicated origins than they realize.

The series blends Norse mythology with school pressures, friendship, romance, danger, and the uneasy feeling that adults may be controlling much more than they admit. The young characters need to work out who they are while also figuring out whether the game was ever meant to be survivable.

It is a different kind of Danann story, aimed at teen and young adult readers but still interested in found family, supernatural politics, and characters learning to trust themselves. Start with The Game Begins before moving on to The Knight.
