Author bio
Kim Law knew early that she liked making things up. In sixth grade, she wrote a story called The Gigantic Talking Raisin, about an animated piece of fruit. It was never published, but it did the important job. It made her want to keep writing.
She is a Kentucky native who loved stories long before writing became her job. Romance novels soon became part of that picture, and she knew that was the kind of story she wanted to tell.
Life took a practical turn first. Law earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, raised a son, and spent years working as a computer programmer. It is a path that makes sense for someone who enjoys both imagination and the satisfying logic of putting pieces together.
Eventually, she made room for the dream she had carried since childhood: writing romance.
Law’s books are contemporary romances, often set in close-knit small towns where people know one another’s business, family history matters, and an old relationship is rarely as settled as it seems. Her characters may be trying to save a business, start over after a breakup, come home, or face a long-buried family problem. Love tends to arrive right when life is already complicated.
Her early novels include Caught on Camera, the first Davenport story, and Sugar Springs, which introduces Lee Ann London and the town that becomes home to a group of interconnected friends. Montana Cherries opens the Wilde family books, centered on siblings, an orchard, and the lasting effects of their difficult childhood. In Hardheaded, a home-renovation competition forces estranged spouses Jill Sadler and Cal Reynolds back into each other’s orbit.
The setup changes, but the things readers return for stay familiar: second chances, family messes, humor, chemistry, and people doing the sometimes awkward work of trusting someone again. Law also writes holiday stories, including Hot Buttered Yum and Montana Mistletoe, where festive events add a little extra pressure to already complicated feelings.
Her work has earned the Romance Writers of America Golden Heart Award, and she has been a finalist for the RITA Award. Those milestones sit alongside a catalog built around accessible, emotional stories with happy endings.
These are romances with room for real-life baggage.
Law lives in Middle Tennessee with her husband and dogs. When she is not writing, she has said she still enjoys chocolate and the color purple, two preferences that have been part of her story for a long time.
