Series background & context

The Wildes of Birch Bay is Kim Law's Montana family saga, centered on the Wilde siblings, their connections to home, and the old wounds they carry from childhood. A cherry orchard, rodeo life, school classrooms, and a small town called Birch Bay give the series a strong sense of place. The romances are complete stories, but the family history unfolds across the books.

The core of the series is a group of adult siblings learning how much their difficult mother shaped them. Her death leaves unanswered questions, painful memories, and a family business that needs attention. As the Wildes return home, take on responsibilities, and fall in love, they also start to see one another more clearly. It can be emotional, but there is plenty of warmth, teasing, and family chaos too.

Home is not always simple.

Montana Cherries introduces Dani Wilde, who left college after her mother's death to help raise her brothers and keep the family farm going. When celebrity photographer Ben Denton returns to Montana with a young daughter he barely knows how to parent, Dani has to decide whether she can finally pursue her own life without abandoning the people she loves. The cherry harvest and orchard put the family at the center from the start.

Later books follow other people in the Wilde circle. Montana Rescue pairs Nick Wilde with Harper Stone, a widowed former Army helicopter pilot carrying grief and guilt. Montana Mornings brings Gabe Wilde home with his young daughter during a divorce, where he reconnects with college love Erica Bird. Montana Dreams follows Jaden Wilde and Arsula, a dream reader whose instincts challenge his practical outlook.

The later novels continue to expand the family. Montana Promises finds Nate trying to save the orchard while growing close to Megan, his brother's former girlfriend. Montana Homecoming focuses on Cord and teacher Maggie as an unexpected pregnancy forces them to confront what a family could mean. The bonus stories Montana Mistletoe and Montana Ever After offer more time with familiar characters, while Montana Inspired works as a prequel.

This is a series for readers who enjoy interconnected romances and want the family arc to matter. The books can be read alone, but publication order gives the clearest picture of the Wildes, their past, and the hard-won changes at Birch Bay.

Start with Montana Cherries, or read Montana Inspired first for an earlier glimpse of the wider community.
