Haunted Wastelands Books in Order

Haunted Wastelands takes Shane Ryan into harsher country than usual. The series pairs him with FBI agent Xander Ventura and throws them into the Nevada desert, where ghost trafficking, nuclear history, and buried government secrets all start to overlap. It is a good setup because the landscape itself feels hostile before the supernatural trouble even surfaces.

What starts as an investigation into a strange conspiracy quickly opens onto haunted relics, glowing spirits, restricted test sites, underground tunnels, and installations that should probably never have existed in the first place. The books have a slightly more thriller-like frame than some of Ripley's haunted-house stories, but the horror is still front and center.

Xander and Shane make a useful pair. Shane brings blunt experience with the dead, while Xander adds a different kind of investigative pressure. As the series goes on, the cases get bigger, the settings get grimmer, and the line between military secrecy and supernatural catastrophe gets very thin.

This series is also a nice fit for readers who like their horror to feel a little scorched and off-balance. The wasteland setting, atomic history, and bunker atmosphere give the ghosts a different texture than the old New England houses do.

If you want Shane Ryan in a more wide-open, high-stakes environment, Haunted Wastelands delivers that without losing the fast pace and brutal supernatural confrontations that make Ripley's connected universe so readable.
