Michele Gwynn's Harvest Trilogy is a connected set of science fiction horror stories about alien encounters, cover-ups, and the terrifying things that can happen when a town is cut off from the rest of the world. Each book has its own main cast and location, but the stories share ideas, consequences, and a growing sense that something inhuman is already much closer than anyone realizes.

Harvest begins in Farley, Oklahoma. Dave Forrester is forced to face a nightmare when the people in his town vanish, leaving only disturbing traces behind. As he searches for survivors, he meets Maggie, another damaged survivor, and the two have to keep moving while trying to understand what has taken their community.

By morning, nearly everyone is gone.

The first book uses a small-town setting to make the horror personal. Dave is not a trained hero or a government insider. He is a person who has lost people he loves and must decide whether to keep looking for answers when every answer seems worse than the last.

Hybrids moves to Schertz, Texas, and reaches back to 1962, when Sergeant Trent Wilkins is assigned to guard an underground bunker. A murder, a government secret, and an old discovery beneath a football field set events in motion. Decades later, teenagers Danny Edwards and Jay Hernandez see strange blue lights over their hometown and discover that the danger has returned.

No rescue is on the way.

The final book, Census, takes place in nearby Marion, Texas, where the official population never seems to change even as residents disappear. Retired firefighter Jack Callaghan and his wife are trying to settle into their new home when Jack begins digging into decades of cold cases. A local meat-market owner, a threatening reverend, the FBI, and the mystery of an unchanging census all become part of the investigation.

The trilogy balances creature horror, conspiracy, mystery, and survival. It also returns to questions about greed, human experimentation, environmental damage, and the way institutions can hide terrible choices. The books can work as connected standalones, since each launches a new central mystery. Still, reading Harvest, Hybrids, and Census in order gives the clearest view of the larger world and its escalating consequences.
