Series background & context

Michele Gwynn's Special Forces: Operation Alpha Green Beret series is romantic suspense built around a close-knit Green Beret team. Every book pairs a soldier with a woman facing her own difficult situation, then raises the pressure with kidnappings, terrorism, family secrets, criminal networks, and missions that leave little room for error.

The books share a team, but each romance has its own focus. Saving Major Morgan works as a prequel novella. Major Matt Hawk Morgan expects to retire and spend Christmas with his wife, Lorraine, and their daughters, only to be sent on one last operation in Syria. It sets the series' tone of military danger meeting the pull of home and family.

The missions never stay separate from the heart.

Rescuing Emma introduces Captain Nathan Oliver, known as Outlaw, and political journalist Emma Jane Lewis. After a night together in London, Emma is kidnapped, and Nate must work with his men to find her while confronting old guilt and the secrets surrounding why she was targeted.

In Loving Leisl, Green Beret medic Jason Gordon, called Doc, meets combat nurse Leisl Craig as she deals with illness, uncertainty, and a future she did not plan for. Their growing relationship is tested when a terrorist attack and old secrets bring danger close to home.

Freeing Fatima sends Sergeant Marcus DuBose, called Skyscraper, after Fatima Ali, a hostage linked to a terrorist organization. His job is to rescue and return hostages without getting attached, but the mission takes him across Eastern Europe while a leak inside the command structure threatens the team.

These soldiers have each other's backs.

The later books keep mixing personal mysteries with outside threats. Saving Christmas follows Lieutenant Shane McCall as he helps Christmas Jones uncover the truth about her birth and her connection to feuding mafia families. In Loving Freddie, Lieutenant Allen Williamson returns home after his mother's death and meets Frederika Samuelson, only for the past they are both trying to outrun to become dangerous.

Readers can begin with Rescuing Emma for the first full-length team story, then read forward to see friendships, past missions, and recurring characters develop. Expect protective heroes, capable heroines, relationship tension, and fast-moving plots where rescue work and emotional trust go hand in hand.
