Author bio
Michele Gwynn was born in Wiesbaden, Germany, to a military family. Her childhood included moves through California and Arizona before her family settled in Schertz, Texas, a place that would later find its way into her fiction.
As a child, she was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. The illness brought real physical challenges, but it also gave her plenty of time to read, imagine, and make up stories of her own.
She started early.
Gwynn wrote her first piece of fiction in third grade. Years later, she studied Broadcast Technology at San Antonio College, graduating in 2008. Before turning fully toward fiction, she worked in medical administration and then built a journalism career, writing local news and online content, interviewing people, and learning how to chase down the details that make a story feel lived in.
That reporting background shows up in her novels. Her books often begin with an unsettling question, a missing person, an unexplained sighting, a dangerous assignment, or a secret someone has worked very hard to bury. She writes across science fiction, horror, crime, paranormal romance, romantic suspense, and children's fiction, rather than staying in a single lane.
Her first fiction novel, Harvest, arrived in 2011. It follows a small Oklahoma town hit by a terrifying disappearance and became the first entry in the Harvest Trilogy. The later books Hybrids and Census expand that world through alien encounters, government secrets, and ordinary communities facing extraordinary danger.
Then came Berlin.
In the Checkpoint, Berlin books, including Exposed: The Education of Sarah Brown, The Evolution of Elsa Kreiss, and The Redemption of Joseph Heinz, Gwynn mixes international crime with romantic tension and investigations into trafficking and abductions. The series also looks backward in The Making of Herman Faust, a Cold War-era story that explores the earlier life of one of its key detectives.
Her romantic suspense work takes a different route. The Green Beret stories pair military missions with relationships under pressure, while the Soldiers of PATCH-COM books follow injured service members recruited into a secret rehabilitation and special operations program. In Secondhand Soldier, a wounded Green Beret gets a new prosthetic leg, a new assignment, and an unexpected second chance with a woman from his past.
Gwynn also makes room for the supernatural. Darkest Communion is a vampire romance set around Bucharest, while the Angelic Hosts books bring angels, demons, prophecy, and human love into the same battle. For younger readers, she wrote The Cat Who Wanted to Be a Reindeer, about a house cat named Sam with a very big Christmas wish.
Her characters are often imperfect people trying to protect someone else, even when they are scared, grieving, or carrying old mistakes. Justice, survival, redemption, family, and hope come up again and again.
Based in Schertz, Texas, Gwynn continues to write across genres. Her varied catalog gives readers plenty of ways in, whether they want alien horror, a Berlin crime case, a paranormal romance, or a military rescue story.
