Green Arrow Books in Order

Benjamin Percy fit Green Arrow unusually well. Oliver Queen has always worked best when he feels half superhero, half troublemaker, and Percy leans into that balance. This is a run about class, corruption, family, and city-level rot, but it still knows how to move like an action comic.

Oliver starts from a familiar contradiction. He wants to fight power, but he is also rich, famous, and tangled up in the systems he claims to oppose. Percy gets a lot of mileage out of that. His Ollie is reckless, earnest, sometimes oblivious, and usually trying to do the right thing even when he has made a mess of the path getting there. Black Canary is crucial to that version of the character, because she pushes him, challenges him, and refuses to let him hide inside his own self-image.

Then there is Emiko.

The family thread matters a lot in this run, both emotionally and structurally. Emiko, Oliver's half sister, gives the series a younger, sharper energy, and the larger conspiracy involving the Ninth Circle helps tie personal stakes to a wider political threat. Seattle and Star City are not just backdrops either. Percy treats the city like contested ground, full of the people Ollie claims to fight for and the institutions that keep failing them.

The tone can swing from street-level and angry to weird and almost urban-legend strange, especially in later arcs like The Nightbirds and Outbreak. That range is part of the fun. At its best, this run feels socially minded without becoming preachy, romantic without getting soft, and adventurous without losing sight of the people on the pavement.

If you want Green Arrow as a scrappy civic hero rather than just Batman with arrows, this series is an excellent fit.
