X-Force (Benjamin Percy) Books in Order

Benjamin Percy's X-Force is the rougher, dirtier side of Krakoa. If the X-Men are the public face of the mutant nation, X-Force is the part that handles the things nobody wants to announce. Intelligence gathering. Assassinations. Containment. Retaliation. Officially or unofficially, they are Krakoa's CIA.

That setup gives the series a built-in moral problem. Beast, Jean Grey, and Sage operate from the strategy side. Wolverine, Domino, Kid Omega, Colossus, Omega Red, and others do the fieldwork. The missions are often necessary, at least in the moment, but Percy keeps asking what that necessity costs. Every success leaves a stain somewhere.

This book is about compromise.

The series begins with a brutal attack that makes clear Krakoa is not as safe as its founders hoped. From there the team chases threats outward, from human hate groups to biological experiments to state actors and internal corruption. Domino's suffering, Colossus's manipulation, Beast's moral collapse, and Wolverine's growing disgust all become major threads. The action is big, but the damage inside the team may be the more important story.

Tonally, this is one of the hardest-edged books of the Krakoa era. It has body horror, espionage, black humor, and a steady sense that even victories might be feeding the next disaster. And yet it still works as a team book, because the clashes in values between its members are what make the missions interesting.

If you like mutant stories with knives out, X-Force is probably the series you want. Read it in order. The long-game plotting matters here.
