Reign of X Books in Order

Reign of X is another Krakoa-era collection line, but it arrives at a different moment than Trials of X. By this point, mutantkind has survived one huge turning point and is trying to live with the consequences. That means the line is full of fallout, expansion, and new stress fractures.

Like Trials of X, this is not a one-hero series. It gathers chapters from several X-books and asks you to read the era as a network rather than as a single title. That can sound messy on paper, but it actually suits Krakoa well. A living nation should feel crowded. Different teams are dealing with different fronts of the same experiment, whether that means diplomacy, space politics, black ops, or personal breakdowns.

Krakoa is trying to govern itself now.

That shift gives Reign of X a slightly different flavor. The immediate shock has passed, but the underlying problems have not. Wolverine and X-Force stories, where Benjamin Percy does a lot of his work in this period, bring the dirtier truths into focus. Secrets are harder to bury. Enemies are adapting. Friends are making choices that stop looking much like friendship.

If you want a clean, self-contained saga, this is not really that. If you want to move through the middle of the Krakoa era in an organized way, though, the line is useful and often very fun. It lets you see how decisions made in one corner of mutant life echo through the others.

Think of Reign of X as a map of a nation under pressure, one anthology volume at a time.
