Series background & context

The Dearest Milton James series is a contemporary romance set around Sydney’s Dead Letter Office, the part of the postal service that handles mail which cannot reach its intended recipient. It is an unusual workplace, full of misfits, mystery, and old letters waiting for answers.

In Dearest Milton James, Malachi Keogh is sent there by his father, who runs Sydney’s postal service. Malachi expects a dull punishment assignment. Instead, he meets Julian Pollard, the quiet, highly organized manager whose beige wardrobe and calm manner are the opposite of Malachi’s bright colors and restless energy.

Opposites do more than attract here.

Malachi wants to solve the puzzle of a pile of letters stored in Julian’s office, while Julian has reasons for keeping his past close. Their growing connection is wrapped up in office friendships, family pressures, and the question of whether either man can risk being fully known.

Dearest Malachi Keogh returns to Julian and Malachi several years later for a short Christmas story. It keeps the focus on their established relationship while the busy holiday season gives Julian a chance to make something special happen for Malachi.

Start with Dearest Milton James. The series is warm, funny, and character-driven, with a gentle mystery threaded through its central romance.
