Series background & context

Christmas Grove is exactly what the name promises, a small magical town where holiday lights, matchmaking, tree farms, enchanted businesses, and romantic mishaps are all part of daily life. Deanna Chase leans into the festive setup, but the books aren't just seasonal fluff. They are full romances with witches, emotional history, and characters trying to decide whether they can trust love again.

Each book focuses on a different couple, so the series reads like a string of connected holiday love stories. One heroine might be running an inn, another working with magical chocolates, another trying to protect family land, another walking back into town with an old heartbreak still very much alive. The men are just as tangled up, often carrying grief, old mistakes, or the belief that forever isn't really for them.

The town is the glue. Christmas Grove is one of those places where everyone knows what's going on, even if nobody says it straight. Magic nudges people together. Past hurts keep them apart. The community watches, meddles, and occasionally helps save the day. It gives the books that cozy repeat-visit feeling, even when each romance is technically its own story.

What keeps the series from turning too sweet is that Chase gives her characters real problems. Divorce, loss, missed chances, family expectations, and bad timing all show up. The holiday sparkle matters because it lands next to things that feel human and recognizable. The magic does not erase pain, it just gives people one more chance to do something brave with it.

Start with A Witch For Mr. Holiday if you want the clearest introduction to the town, then move on in order. If your ideal comfort read includes snow, spells, Christmas kitchens, and second chances under twinkle lights, this series understands the assignment.
