Series background & context

Wolves of the Rising Sun is a shifter romance series set in the Louisiana bayou, and that setting gives it a very specific flavor. These books are humid, close, and full of tension. The world feels isolated enough for old loyalties and hidden dangers to matter, but still open enough for outsiders to walk in and change everything.

The series follows members of the Riveaux and Davenne wolf circles, with each novella focusing on a different hero and his relationship. Some of the women are returning to town. Some are on the run. Some have unfinished history with the man at the center of the book. Nearly all of them find themselves pulled into pack secrets and dangerous conflicts faster than they planned.

Because these are shorter romances, the stories do not waste time. Attraction sparks early. Threats show up fast. The heroes are protective, impulsive, and deeply tied to the rules of their wolf lives, even when those rules make love inconvenient. That gives the books a strong mate-bond feel without losing the bayou atmosphere.

What links the series is the sense of family and shared danger. Even when a book focuses on one couple, you can feel the pack behind them, along with the enemies pressing at the edges. That makes publication order the best choice if you want the full shape of the world, though each romance still lands cleanly on its own.

Start with Jace if you want the most direct entry into the bayou setting and the series tone. Expect wolf shifters, protective instincts, old secrets, and romances that get more dangerous the deeper they go.
