Hunt of the Dragon sends photojournalist Krissa Nadeem and assassin Bowen Huntergild into enemy territory after a single photograph uncovers something far more serious than either expects.

These books are connected by more than shared worldbuilding. The threat from hostile forces, including the Larkosians and blood magic, keeps pushing across the series, so the romances land inside a larger war story. Cross balances action scenes, dark atmosphere, and strong fated-mate energy without losing sight of the characters. Her heroes tend to be possessive, dangerous, and deeply loyal. Her heroines are rarely passive, even when the world tries to corner them.

This is a fantasy romance series with sharp edges.

If you want dragon romance with more danger, more politics, and more battlefield tension than a cozy paranormal series, Vale of Stars is a good fit. It rewards reading in order, because the social conflict, family threads, and ongoing threats build from book to book.
