Ella Barrow has spent her life letting other people decide what is safest or most proper for her, and Paxon Nightwing represents everything she has been taught to avoid. Their relationship is hidden, but the real drama comes from whether Ella can finally choose her own life instead of the one her family prefers.

These books are more intimate than epic, but the world around them still matters. Class pressure, family control, old prejudice, and the physical power of the Morgons all shape the romances. Cross likes alpha heroes, and this series definitely has them, but she pairs them with women who have to claim space for themselves in a rigid world.

If you want dragon romance with a strong forbidden-love streak, Nightwing delivers that clearly. It is a good fit for readers who enjoy fantasy settings but still want the core of the story to stay focused on the couple, the danger around them, and the cost of choosing desire over obedience.
