Series background & context

The Truth Duet is a two-book romantic suspense story about Penn Walker and Cora. It begins with The Truth About Lies and concludes with The Truth About Us. The books follow the same couple and the same danger, so they are best read back to back and in order.

Penn arrives in the story after witnessing his wife's murder from far away through his phone. He spends four years running from the rage and helplessness that follow. A fresh start seems possible until he meets Cora, a woman whose life looks outwardly stable but is built around fear, secrets, and the effort of making something good inside a nightmare.

Neither one is as free as they first appear.

In The Truth About Lies, Penn is drawn to Cora because she is strong without pretending that she has not been hurt. Cora is drawn to him despite knowing that closeness could make her vulnerable. As their relationship grows, Penn realizes that his plans for a quiet new beginning are not enough to keep them safe. The title fits the story's central problem: people can tell themselves a lie for years, and still be caught off guard when the truth arrives.

The Truth About Us continues from Cora's perspective. After witnessing her husband's murder, she has little trust left to give anyone. Penn takes the broken pieces of her life seriously, but the more she learns about him, the more complicated their connection becomes. The romance and suspense are closely tangled, with danger coming from both the past and the information the characters still do not have.

This duet is built for readers who like secrets with consequences.

Penn and Cora are not simply solving a mystery together. Their choices affect their safety, their families, and their ability to believe that a relationship can be more than another risk. The books move through grief, trauma, control, and survival, while keeping the couple's developing trust at the center.

Start with The Truth About Lies. It introduces Penn's loss, Cora's hidden situation, and the questions that power the duet. Continue immediately to The Truth About Us for Cora's fuller perspective and the resolution of the story. The two titles are one romance told from different angles, with no easy answers and plenty of emotional pressure.
