Series background & context
Wrecked and Ruined is a connected romance series about people whose lives are knotted together by one terrible accident and the secrets left behind by it. The main reading order is Changing Course, Stolen Course, Among the Echoes, and Broken Course. The books move among different couples, but the consequences of earlier events carry through the whole sequence.
Changing Course introduces Brett, who has spent four years caring for Sarah Kate Erickson after an accident changed her so completely that he no longer recognizes the person he loved. When he meets coffee-shop barista Jesse Addison, he begins to understand that he lost himself that night, too. Jesse offers a chance to move forward, but Sarah's presence and Brett's guilt make a clean break impossible.
Nothing in this world stays neatly in the past.
In Stolen Course, Caleb is grieving Manda Baker, the woman he planned to marry. He believes Sarah is responsible for Manda's death and becomes determined to make her pay. Then he falls for Sarah's sister, Emma Jane Erickson. Caleb's anger, Emma's loyalty, and the unanswered questions around the accident make the relationship a painful tangle from the start.
Among the Echoes acts as a bridge to the On the Ropes books while remaining part of this larger setting. Dr. Erica Hill is living under another identity after becoming a victim and witness. Celebrity boxer Slate Andrews sees through the disguise and wants to protect her, even though his fame makes invisibility harder. Their story adds a stronger romantic-suspense thread to the shared world.
Then comes Sarah's story.
Broken Course follows Sarah and Leo James. Years after the accident, Sarah is still estranged from herself, overwhelmed by guilt and the feeling that she does not deserve an ordinary life. Leo has his own wounds, and their relationship is not about one person fixing the other. It is about two damaged people deciding whether they can make a future without allowing old lies and secrets to dictate every choice.
This series is emotionally intense and highly connected. Start with Changing Course even if the later couples sound more appealing, because the accident and its aftermath shape everyone who follows. Reading in order also clarifies why resentment, loyalty, and forgiveness are such large parts of the series. The romances are different, but the question remains the same: what do people do after one moment wrecks the life they expected?
