Feral Sins

Series background & context

The Phoenix Pack books follow a tight-knit pack of wolf shifters based in the Arizona mountains, starting with alpha Trey Coleman and latent wolf Taryn Warner in Feral Sins. Their fake mating deal, meant to win allies for him and free her from an arranged match, sets the tone for a series built on political bargains that turn into real bonds.

Each novel centers on a different couple inside the expanding pack, from Beta Dante and chaotic Jaime in Wicked Cravings to runaway mate Shaya and guilt-ridden Alpha Nick in Carnal Secrets, through to scarred fighter Roni and flirty enforcer Marcus in Dark Instincts.

What ties the books together is more than the romances. The Phoenix wolves deal with hostile neighboring packs, human extremist groups, power-hungry Alphas, and rogue shifters, often teaming up with the allied Mercury Pack next door. Fights over territory, loyalty, and how to handle misfits give the series a constant sense of motion.

Wright leans hard into found family. Pack meetings are full of trash talk, pranks, and running jokes, but underneath the snark is a very clear line, once someone is claimed as pack, everyone closes ranks around them. Many of the heroes and heroines start out hurt, exiled, or dismissed, and a good portion of the emotional payoff is watching them be folded into a group that refuses to let go.

The tone balances action with heat and humor. Expect possessive alphas, stubborn heroines, overprotective relatives, and plenty of side stories for enforcers and cubs. The Phoenix Pack books also plant seeds for other series, especially the Mercury Pack and later the Olympus Pride books, so reading in publication order will make the cameos and crossovers feel more rewarding.

If you like shifter romances that feel like dropping into one very loud, very loyal extended family, this is the corner of Wright's universe to start with.
