Series background & context
Set in a demon-controlled Las Vegas, this series kicks off in Burn, where tattooist Harper Wallis learns that her psychic anchor and fated mate is Knox Thorne, the notorious Prime of a powerful lair. Their bond drags her into a world of infernal politics, Horsemen, and dark magic that keeps escalating with each book.
The first four novels stay largely with Harper and Knox as they move from wary partners to co-Primes, start a family, and face enemies determined to exploit Harper's unusual abilities. Along the way they gather a tight circle of sentinels, anchors, and allies whose own stories will later take center stage.
From Shadows through Omens and beyond, the spotlight shifts to that supporting cast, including hellcat Devon with hellhound Tanner and imp Khloe with incubus Keenan. Each couple deals with their own baggage, from abusive childhood institutions to dangerous cults, while the lair itself remains the emotional and political hub.
Later books like Hunted, Viper, and Legion widen the scope again, playing with reincarnated bonds, new demonic species, and villains who want to use those connections as weapons. Even so, the throughline stays clear, this is a found family of demons who guard their own fiercely and are willing to burn the world down before they let one of theirs be taken.
Readers can happily binge the Dark in You novels in order, but the structure also lets you dip in for specific couples once you have met them in earlier books. Expect explicit romance, deadpan humor, and a lot of scenes where the supposed monsters are far more human than the people hunting them.
