by Jen L Grey

Series background & context

The Pearson Prophecy is a fantasy trilogy built around a familiar promise and a sharp warning: power comes with a price. It follows Ariah, a young woman who’s been treated like an outcast in her own kingdom and has learned to survive by staying in the shadows.

That survival strategy starts to fail when her powers begin to surface. Once Ariah can’t hide what she is, she catches the attention of her lifelong crush, and also an unlikely ally who complicates everything.

The series runs through Dawning Ascent, Enlightened Ascent, and Reigning Ascent, tracking Ariah as her magic grows and the world around her grows more dangerous in response.

Trust is the riskiest spell.

A big part of the tension comes from relationships that aren’t easy to categorize. The crush isn’t automatically safe, the ally isn’t automatically trustworthy, and Ariah’s choices have consequences that stretch beyond her own heart.

Expect a fast-moving fantasy tone with romance elements, danger that escalates as the prophecy thread tightens, and a heroine who has to decide what kind of person she’ll be when she’s no longer invisible. If you like stories about secret power, complicated trust, and a journey where every step forward raises the stakes, this trilogy is a solid place to start.
