Series background & context

The Artifact Reaper Saga is an urban fantasy series built around one big, rule-breaking choice: a reaper decides to heal instead of reap. That decision isn’t treated like a cute exception, it’s the kind of change that makes an entire system start to crack.

The series setup is captured in the tagline: she chose mercy, and now the world is imploding. From there, the books follow the consequences as the balance of the supernatural world shifts and powerful forces react.

Artifacts play a central role, and the story leans into that hunt-and-consequence momentum. Titles like Reaper of Earth, Reaper of Wings, Reaper of Flames, and Reaper of Water suggest a path through different kinds of power, each with its own dangers and fallout.

Mercy can start a war.

The saga includes an origin point in Reaper: The Beginning, which frames how the main character became someone willing to break the rules of her own kind. As the series progresses, the tension comes from two directions at once: external threats trying to restore control, and internal doubt about whether saving people is worth what it’s doing to the world.

Expect a fast pace, sharp supernatural stakes, and a protagonist who’s constantly forced to decide what “right” means when every option has a body count. If you like urban fantasy with an ongoing arc, big consequences, and a heroine who keeps choosing compassion even when it’s dangerous, this series fits.
