The Cruentus Curse Books in Order

The Cruentus Curse is Amalie Howard's darker young adult paranormal series, built around witches, vampires, blood magic, and the kind of doomed attraction that immediately tells you nobody's life is about to get easier. It has the moodiness readers often come to paranormal romance for, but it also gives its heroine a real amount of agency.

Victoria Warrick anchors the main storyline. In Bloodspell, she learns that she comes from a line of witches and that the strange force inside her is not just power but a curse with a will of its own. Christian Devereux arrives as the dangerously compelling vampire at the center of that trouble, and the two are pulled into a relationship that is forbidden for reasons much bigger than school gossip or parental disapproval.

Bloodcraft takes the story outward into Paris, where the politics of witches and vampires tighten around Victoria and Christian. The world gets larger, the cost of power gets clearer, and controlling Victoria's blood magic becomes harder instead of easier. Then Bloodbound steps backward as a prequel novella set in Vienna in 1892, giving more history to the Devereux line and the curse that hangs over the series.

If you want cozy paranormal, this is not that.

The tone is romantic and atmospheric, but there is always an edge of danger under it. Howard is interested in temptation, yes, but also in what power asks from the people who carry it. Victoria is not simply waiting to be rescued. Much of the tension comes from whether she can master what lives in her blood before it masters her.

This series works best in order, starting with Bloodspell. If you end up liking the world, the prequel adds a nice extra layer. Readers who enjoy forbidden romance, old supernatural rivalries, and a heroine trying to hold onto herself while everything around her shifts should feel at home here.
