Series background & context

The Sweet Tea B&B series takes readers to the Blue Ridge Mountains, where a cozy bed and breakfast becomes the center of a new, blended family. These books mix small town women’s fiction with gentle romance, all wrapped in mountain views and plenty of Southern comfort.

The story begins when Mia Carter, a true Southern daughter, is left running her late mother’s beloved inn, the Sweet Tea B&B. She is doing her best to keep the doors open and honor her mother’s legacy when a stranger from far away appears in her life. Kate Miller, an event planner from Rhode Island, discovers through a DNA test that she has a half sister she never knew about. That revelation pulls her straight into Mia’s world and into a town where everyone already seems to know everyone else.

After the shock wears off, Mia and Kate learn that their mother’s will comes with strings attached. To inherit the inn, they have to run it together for a period of time, whether they get along or not. Watching two women with very different upbringings, styles, and expectations try to share both a business and a home gives the series much of its heart and humor.

Across the books, the B&B becomes more than a workplace. It is a gathering place for townspeople, guests, and a rotating cast of secondary characters who bring in new storylines. Romance threads run through each novel, including a slow building relationship between Kate and Cooper, a local contractor with history in Mia’s life. Later books explore holidays, weddings, and babies that test the sisters’ teamwork and deepen their bond.

The Blue Ridge setting matters, too. Readers get a feel for crisp fall mornings, mountain roads, and the kind of tight community where secrets are hard to keep. The B&B itself serves as a symbol of both past and future, full of memories yet ready to host new chapters in everyone’s lives.

Sweet Tea B&B is a good fit if you like series that focus on family found as much as family born, with clean romance, emotional but not heavy plots, and a strong sense of place. Each book brings a self contained arc while building on the relationships and history established from the start, so following the series in order feels rewarding but not confusing if you take a break between visits.
