Series background & context

The Ghosts and Aliens series is a three book blend of paranormal romance and young adult adventure, also co written with Bella James. It follows a teenage girl who suddenly finds herself protected by two very different supernatural beings, one ghost and one alien, and discovers that her quiet life is anything but ordinary.

At the center of the story is Cassidy, a high school student who believes she is completely average. She goes to class, hangs out with friends, and worries about normal things, until strange events begin piling up. She starts seeing and hearing things no one else can, and odd gaps appear in her memory. It is unnerving enough before she realizes she is being guarded.

In Taken, she learns that Jack, a ghost tethered to her world, and Dillon, an alien with his own agenda, are both committed to keeping her safe. The trouble is, they do not always agree on how to do that, and neither is telling her the full truth. Cassidy’s parents disappear, leaving her with even more questions about what is really going on and why she has become a target.

Revealed and Redemption deepen the mythology. Cassidy uncovers more about a larger conflict that stretches beyond her small town, one that involves other realms and older grudges. Her relationships with Jack and Dillon grow more complicated, moving from simple protection to something more emotional, even as danger escalates around them.

Throughout the trilogy, the tone balances suspense, humor, and teenage emotion. Cassidy deals with crushes, jealousy, and the normal pains of growing up alongside much bigger, stranger problems. The books touch on themes of identity, choice, and what it means to be human, even when some of the characters technically are not.

Ghosts and Aliens is a fun option if you like your romance mixed with supernatural elements and a fast moving plot. While it sits apart from the author’s small town adult fiction, it shares the emphasis on character relationships and the belief that even in wild circumstances, the connections we make matter most.
