She is trying to understand who she really is, what her abilities mean, and why so many dangerous people suddenly care whether she lives or dies. The later books lean harder into crowns, thrones, and what happens when someone who never asked for power becomes impossible to ignore.

The tone is darker than Darkblood Academy or Hitched, but it still keeps the romantic tension and fast pace that DeRosa readers usually expect. There is plenty of banter, heat, and high-stakes emotion, just filtered through prison breaks, demon bargains, and dragon-sized problems.
