Series background & context

George Mann's High Republic stories sit in an earlier age of the Star Wars galaxy, when the Jedi are active across an expanding Republic and the Outer Rim is still full of uncertain routes, distant worlds, and new alliances. The era is told through many books and comics by different writers, so this page works as a focused guide to Mann's part of that larger story.

Quest for the Hidden City follows Jedi Knight Silandra Sho and her Padawan, Rooper Nitani. They are sent to locate a missing Pathfinder team and trace a damaged droid's message to Gloam, a scarred world with frightening legends and a city hidden beneath its surface. It is a direct adventure with mystery, monsters, and a mentor-and-student partnership at its heart.

The Battle of Jedha takes a broader political turn. On the sacred moon of Jedha, Jedi attempt to help end the long conflict between Eiram and E'ronoh during the Festival of Balance. Distrust, competing Force traditions, and old anger make peace much harder than a signed treaty.

Mann also contributes younger-reader stories such as Showdown at the Fair and The Battle for Starlight. These make good entry points for readers looking for compact Jedi adventures.

There is no need to read every High Republic release before starting Mann's books. Begin with Quest for the Hidden City for a self-contained novel, or The Battle of Jedha if you want an audio-drama-scale conflict tied more closely to the era's central politics.
