Series background & context

The Sherton Sisters series follows the five daughters of the Earl of Sherton, then widens to include the next generation of their growing family circle. Set in Regency England, these books blend ballroom courtship with political plots, family responsibilities, fake relationships, and secrets that threaten reputations. Each novel has a different couple, but the Shertons remain a lively thread throughout.

There is always another Season, another house party, and another problem to solve.

The series begins with A Duke to Elude. Lady Rosabel Sherton wants a love match with an ordinary man, not another titled suitor. Then James Allingham, Duke of Wexford, arrives while investigating a scheme against the Crown. Rosabel becomes caught up in the danger, and neither of them can ignore the attraction growing between them.

Her sisters follow. A Viscount to Conspire gives determined Lady Hilaria a fake courtship with Viscount Camden Eastwood, a plan designed to quiet his demanding mother and improve Hilaria’s prospects. In A Gentleman to Avoid, Lady Vigilia finds herself in a difficult position with businessman Ashford Northcott, the man she has insisted she could never marry. A Lady to Reveal follows Felicity, who hides her identity while working as a duke’s companion, and A Sister to Beguile pairs quiet Graciela with Lord Alexander Sterling as they investigate sabotage.

The later books move beyond the original sisters while keeping the family connections close. A Rogue to Resist centers on Katherine Halston, a young widow determined to preserve her freedom, and Drake Halston, the unexpected heir who needs her land and must marry quickly to protect his inheritance. A Lord to Outwit follows Margaret Whitmore as she defends her siblings’ future and questions whether war hero Lord Benedict Allingham is an ally or another fortune hunter. A Scoundrel to Reform brings Lydia Everly together with Viscount Augustus Sherton after he arrives at her home injured and concealing who he really is.

Romance is the main event, but the books make room for investigation and practical concerns. The women face pressure to marry well, preserve family standing, or protect those who depend on them. Their partners must learn to respect that independence rather than simply rescue them.

Start with A Duke to Elude for the fullest view of the Sherton family. Readers who like clean Regency romance with close-knit relatives, capable heroines, and a touch of intrigue will find plenty to enjoy as the family expands.
