Lillian’s plans collide with the newly titled Earl of Sedgwick, who is trying to finish a Home Office investigation before returning to his estate. Suspicion, duty, and attraction all pull in different directions.

Inviting Misfortune shifts to Sarah Upton, a capable companion saving money to open a school for girls. While chaperoning a young woman’s debut, Sarah finds herself battling the interference of Heath Felton, the Marquis of Westbrook. His concern for his friend’s future clashes with Sarah’s need to protect her charge, and the situation becomes even more difficult when Sarah’s employer proves untrustworthy.

The three books share a world rather than one continuing central couple. Readers can expect heroines who want work, security, or a chance to choose their own path, alongside aristocratic heroes who must learn that good intentions do not excuse controlling behavior. The recurring inheritance gives the series its link, while each book has its own romance and resolution.

It is a gentle place to start if you like Regency settings without heavy drama. The stakes matter, especially when reputations and livelihoods are at risk, but the stories keep their attention on trust, independence, and the small decisions that make a future possible.
