Northcott Kinship follows the Northcott brothers, their friends, and the women who refuse to let them keep all the secrets. Set in Regency England, the series mixes courtship with investigations for the Home Office. Their story sets the pattern for the series: a careful man with a hidden assignment meets a woman who is much more capable than he expects.

The following books expand the circle. Convincing Mr. Northcott pairs agent Gilbert Northcott with Caroline Smith, whose father is under investigation. In Evading the Gentleman, Daisy Alcott and Foster Northcott must cooperate while looking into a smuggling operation. Distracting the Heir brings independent traveler Constance Moreland together with Florent Alcott when an enemy arrives at a house party.

Later installments keep the mix of romance and official trouble going. Provoking Lord Simmons features Viscount Simmons and Isabelle Benedict, whom he suspects may be connected to his case. Defying the Earl reunites Lady Beatrice Harrison with Nathan Lawrence, an agent who has inherited an earldom. Assisting Lord Richmond gives first love Ellen Courtenay and Hugh, Viscount Richmond, a forced courtship during a case of mistaken identity. The final book, Confounding the Fortune Hunter, follows Lucy Scranton and scientifically minded Roderick Northcott as his investigation puts her in danger.

These romances have separate central couples, but the characters overlap enough that reading in order is rewarding. The Home Office work provides recurring stakes, while house parties, London Seasons, family expectations, and property concerns keep the stories rooted in Regency life.

The tone is sweet and lightly suspenseful. Expect fake relationships, childhood connections, second chances, opposites who annoy each other before falling in love, and heroes who learn that protecting someone is not the same as making choices for them. It is a good fit for readers who want a clean Regency romance with a little detective work in the background.
