Series background & context
Ryker Falls is a Lani Blake small-town romance series with ex-bad-boy brothers, long friendships, second chances, and a community full of oddballs. The Trainer brothers and their circle anchor the series, but the town itself is just as important. It is nosy, funny, warm, and very bad at letting people keep emotional distance.
There is also a pony called Monica.
The series starts with Somebody To Love, a second-chance romance between Joe Trainer and Bailey Jones. They were once close, but when Bailey comes back to Ryker Falls, they are not exactly friendly. That mix of old hurt and unfinished feeling sets the tone for the books that follow.
Ryker Falls leans into familiar contemporary romance pleasures: friends to lovers, childhood sweethearts, opposites attract, grumpy heroes, family loyalty, and people trying to pretend they are fine when they absolutely are not. The later books bring in more members of the extended town circle, including ranchers, siblings, friends, and outsiders who find themselves pulled into the community.
The humor is a big part of the appeal. The town has a habit of commenting on everyone’s business, and that creates room for banter, embarrassment, and found-family moments. At the same time, the characters often carry real wounds, including broken friendships, family trouble, and old choices they regret.
Each book follows a different couple, so you can read for the trope you like best. Still, start with Somebody To Love if you want the strongest introduction to the Trainers, the town, and the emotional rhythm of the series.
