Series background & context
The Sinclair and Raven series is Wendy Vella’s Regency romance world with a small thread of magic running through it. The setup is simple and fun: generations ago, the Sinclair family made a pact with the powerful Raven family. Their creed is to honor and protect, and over time the Sinclairs developed heightened senses that help them do exactly that.
The Ravens do not always make the job easy.
The series begins with Sensing Danger, where Eden Sinclair saves James, Duke of Raven, and pulls him into a family legend he would rather ignore. From there, the books follow different Sinclair and Raven relatives as each one stumbles into danger, duty, and romance. The couples change, but the family bond stays at the center.
This is a good series if you like historical romance with big connected families. The Sinclairs are loud, loyal, and stubborn. The Ravens are powerful, guarded, and often in need of protection, even when they insist they are perfectly fine. Vella uses that tension again and again: one family is sworn to protect, the other has to learn how to be protected without losing pride.
There is danger in almost every book, including attacks, kidnappings, secrets from the past, missing people, and threats that reach into drawing rooms and country estates. But the mood is still warm. The books balance suspense with family banter, courtship, and the feeling that once you are claimed by this clan, you are never truly alone again.
Most of the books can stand on their own because each has its own central couple. Still, the series is best read in order. The family tree grows quickly, old couples return, and the bigger legend of why the Sinclairs and Ravens are bound together gains more meaning as the younger generation steps forward.
