Robyn Hood Books in Order

Robyn Hood is a two-book historical retelling that asks what might happen if Robin Hood had actually been a young woman named Robyn. There is no time travel or fantasy magic here. Instead, the books lean into outlaws, archery, royal courts, Sherwood Forest, and the difficult work of protecting people when the powerful are not interested in helping.

The ballads got a few things wrong.

Robyn is drawn into the outlaw life through her compassion for villagers and her loyalty to friends. She leads a band of Merry Men, fires a bow, and faces the problem at the center of every Robin Hood story: how do you resist cruel authority without becoming cruel yourself? Shea keeps the familiar legend ingredients while giving Robyn her own voice and priorities.

A Girl's Tale establishes Robyn's place among the outlaws and builds her relationships with figures readers will recognize from the traditional stories. The historical setting matters. Robyn has fewer choices and more risks than a male outlaw would have, so secrecy, reputation, and the trust of her band are all vital to her survival.

In Fight for Freedom, Robyn's leadership is tested after she loses an archery contest and leaves the Merry Men. Her attempt to hide at Prince John's court unravels, friends are captured, and Maid Marian is threatened with a forced marriage. Robyn has to decide whether she can return, rescue those she loves, and become the leader her people need.

The series has a fast, youthful adventure tone. There are dangerous situations and political unfairness, but also camaraderie, humor, and a heroine who refuses to stay in the role others assign her. It shares some of the spirit of Shea's King Arthur books, especially the focus on a strong woman reshaping a familiar legend, but it is a separate story.
