Rebel Galaxy begins with a colony-ship premise and then flips it into resistance fiction. Captain Gideon Wallace is supposed to be guiding Trailblazer Eight and its passengers toward a new human future among the stars. Instead, the crew wakes to news that Earth has fallen to an alien invasion, and suddenly the mission is not colonization so much as species survival.

That change in mission is what drives the whole series. The Trailblazer ships are not war fleets. Their people are settlers, caretakers, and civilians. So when the Draconian threat closes in, every decision about whether to hide, run, bargain, or fight feels heavier than it would in a pure military series.

There is no clean place to stand.

The short companion story Contact fills in part of the earlier human push toward Proxima Centauri, while Factions and Vanguard widen the map with rebel groups, machine powers, uneasy alliances, and the ongoing question of where free humans can actually live. Scott and J.N. Chaney keep the plot moving, but they also leave room for the crew to feel like people rather than pieces on a board.

If you enjoy colony ships, alien occupation, and the slow building of a resistance network, this is a solid collaboration to try. It has the big stakes you want from space opera, but it never loses the smaller human problem of finding a home that might actually stay yours.
