Cade Korbin Chronicles Books in Order

The Cade Korbin Chronicles sit in the rougher, more mercenary corner of Jasper T. Scott's catalog. Cade is an ex-Paladin, once used for dark operations by the Coalition, later discarded, jailed, and pushed to the edges of respectable society. By the time the series starts, he is living by contracts, instincts, and a moral code that is better than he likes to admit.

That gives the books a nice mix of swagger and damage. Cade can handle himself, but he is never written as a spotless hero. He is angry, practical, and usually one bad job away from making everything worse. Then Scott starts handing him problems that go far beyond crime lords and bounty work: dead research teams, alien ruins, ancient tech, replicating machines, and enemies who think on a much larger scale than he does.

Things escalate fast.

Across The Bounty Hunter, Alien Artifacts, Paragon, The Omega Protocol, and Bounty Hunters, the series grows from outlaw-for-hire adventure into a broader fight over power, control, and what the wrong technology can do in human hands. It keeps the pace of a chase story, even when the stakes turn galactic.

If you like your space opera a little grimier, this is a good Scott series to try. The ships and weapons matter, but the main pleasure is Cade himself, a man who keeps trying to stay one step ahead of the system and ends up carrying far more of the galaxy than he ever planned.
